Back entrance. The one connected to the Cubao Expo. |
After holy week, one of my friends suggested that we go and visit Art in Island and along with the invitation was a sample picture of what we should expect. When I saw that it was a 3D museum and when I learned that it's just in Cubao, I got instantly interested! :)
If you're curious too, here's some information about the Art in Island and some photos that we successfully pulled during our visit.
Art in Island is a 3D art museum that is known as the largest in Asia in terms of 3D paintings. The founders of the museum are Korean and according to an article I read, all the paintings on the two-storey museum were made within just 4 months by 14 3D artists who are also from Korea. Amazing!
The museum encourages visitors not just to admire and marvel on the the paintings displayed but also to be a part of it. Amazing times two, yes? :D
Quick Details:
- Location: 175 15th Ave., Brgy. Socorro, Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines. (If you're familiar with the Araneta, Cubao vicinity, there's an entrance along General Romulo St., the street where Alimall is located. Just look for the Cubao Expo (it's right before SaveMore), you can enter there and walking up to the back, you'll notice the entrance to the Art in Island.
- Museum opens Tuesdays to Sundays from 9:30am to 9:30pm.
- Entrance fee: P500 for regular and P400 for students, PWD and senior citizens. Children below 3ft. are free.
- Taking pictures is allowed but minus the flash.
- Shoes are to be deposited upon entrance. You can bring and use socks if you don't want to go bare feet.
TIPS on taking pictures:
- Find the right spot for you to pose, it's easy to figure out if you imagine yourself included on the painting.
- For those taking pictures, there are PHOTO POINT stickers strategically placed on the floor to serve as guide for the right angle. If your group wants everyone in the picture, there are staff roaming around the museum who can help you snap the shot. :)
- Be creative and go crazy! Every painting is an opportunity to unleash your quirky side. ;)
- Don't be awkward. No one will remember your silly face and crazy pose because each and every person in the room is either admiring the paintings or brainstorming on how they're going to pose for the next picture!
- JUST ENJOY and be PART of the ART. Because that's exactly the point of the Art in Island! :)
